Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold7 could soon claim the title of the thinnest foldable smartphone on the market, according to a new leak by well-known tipster Ice Universe. The latest report suggests that the Z Fold7 will measure just 8.9mm when folded and an impressive 3.9mm when unfolded—a significant step forward in foldable phone design.
For context, Oppo’s Find N5, currently the slimmest foldable on the market, also clocks in at 8.9mm folded, but 4.2mm unfolded. Meanwhile, Huawei’s Mate X5 boasts a thinner unfolded profile at 3.6mm, technically still holding the edge when it comes to unfolded thickness. Even so, the Z Fold7 would represent a major leap over its predecessor and competitors in terms of engineering and portability.
A Slimmer and Lighter Foldable Flagship The Galaxy Z Fold7’s rumored dimensions mark a substantial improvement over the Galaxy Z Fold6, which is 12.1mm thick when folded and 5.6mm when unfolded. It also outperforms the exclusive Z Fold Special Edition, available only in South Korea and China, which measures 10.6mm folded and 4.9mm unfolded.
Earlier reports had hinted at 8.2mm folded and 4.5mm unfolded, but the new figures, if accurate, point to even more refined engineering.
Confirmed 4,400mAh Battery Capacity While the phone’s dimensions are generating buzz, battery specs are also coming into focus. The Z Fold7 is expected to pack a 4,400mAh battery, a detail confirmed through a recent certification by UL Demko. While the capacity may remain the same as previous models, the much thinner profile would make this battery size an impressive technical feat.
A Major Leap for Samsung’s Foldables If these latest rumors hold true, the Galaxy Z Fold7 will not only set a new benchmark for thinness in the foldable category but also enhance portability without compromising battery life or functionality. With Samsung expected to unveil the device later this year, anticipation is building for what could be the most polished Galaxy Fold yet.
