Nintendo has officially unveiled the Switch 2, a fully redesigned upgrade over its predecessor, launching June 5.
Design & Display
- Larger build (271.8mm x 114.3mm x 13.9mm, 399g) with an improved kickstand.
- 7.9-inch LCD display (1920x1080, 120Hz VRR).
- HDR10 support, but still an LCD panel—an OLED version may come later.
New Joy-Con 2 Controllers
- Magnetically attached instead of rails.
- Larger SL/SR buttons and analog sticks.
- Mouse mode for additional game functionality.
Improved Video & Audio
- 4K 60Hz output via a new actively cooled dock.
- 5.1 PCM audio, 3D audio, and improved built-in speakers.

- Nvidia-powered chipset (exact specs unknown).
- 5220mAh battery, but no official battery life details.
New Software Features
- GameChat allows voice chat, screen sharing, and video calling via the new Switch 2 Camera accessory.
- Free until March 31, 2026, then requires Nintendo Switch Online.
Backward Compatibility & Online Service
- Plays Switch 2 exclusives and most Switch titles.
- Some Switch games will get a paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade for better graphics and gameplay.
- Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds GameCube games.
- New GameCube-style controller and Switch 2 Pro Controller with GameChat button.
