Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: A Power-Efficient Performance Boost

Qualcomm has officially announced its latest premium mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (SM8735), built on TSMC’s 4nm N4P process. Unlike the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite, this chip features the older Kryo CPU instead of the Oryon core.

Performance & Efficiency Upgrades The CPU architecture includes: 🔹 1x Cortex-X4 prime core (3.2GHz) 🔹 3x Cortex-A720 cores (3.0GHz) 🔹 2x Cortex-A720 cores (2.8GHz) 🔹 2x Cortex-A720 cores (2.0GHz)

Compared to last year’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, Qualcomm claims a 31% performance boost while consuming 39% less power.

Graphics & AI Enhancements

  • The new Adreno 825 GPU offers a 49% graphics improvement, featuring:
  • On-device ray tracing
  • Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0
  • Adreno Image Motion Engine 2.0

Additionally, the Hexagon NPU delivers 44% better AI performance, enhancing on-device AI capabilities.

Camera & Multimedia

  • The 18-bit triple ISP supports:
  • Up to 320MP camera sensors
  • 4K 60fps HDR video recording

Connectivity & Storage

  • The integrated Snapdragon X75 5G modem provides peak 4.2Gbps download speeds, but only supports sub-6GHz 5G, excluding mmWave. Other connectivity features include:
  • Wi-Fi 7 & Bluetooth 6.0
  • UFS 4.0 storage & LPDDR5X RAM
  • USB 3.1 Gen 2
  • XPAN audio connectivity, compatible with select wireless earbuds like Xiaomi Buds 5 Pro

First Devices & Availability The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 will debut later this month on the iQOO Z10 Turbo, with Xiaomi, Oppo, Meizu, and others set to launch devices powered by this new chipset soon.
