Google has launched Canvas, a new feature for its AI-powered Gemini chatbot, allowing users to create, refine, and collaborate on writing and coding projects. Similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT Canvas and Anthropic’s Artifacts, Gemini Canvas provides an interactive space for drafting and editing content with AI assistance.
Users can adjust tone, length, and formatting, as well as refine specific sections with dedicated tools. Content can be easily exported to Google Docs for collaboration. On the coding side, Canvas lets users generate and preview HTML, React, and other web app code, updating previews in real time based on user input.
Additionally, Google is bringing Audio Overview from NotebookLM to Gemini, enabling AI-generated podcast-style summaries of documents and web pages. Users can upload files, generate summaries, and download or share them via the Gemini app.
Both Canvas and Audio Overview are available for free to Gemini users worldwide, with Canvas’ code preview feature currently limited to the web and Audio Overview only supporting English.
