Counterpoint Research's latest report on smartphone OS market share confirms Android's continued dominance globally, followed by iOS and HarmonyOS. However, in China, HarmonyOS surpassed iOS in all four quarters of 2024, with expectations for further growth in 2025.
Android's market share declined in key regions like the U.S. and India, hitting its lowest-ever level in Q4 2024. While iPhone sales in the U.S. dropped slightly (1%), India saw record-high sales, mainly of older iPhone models.
HarmonyOS maintained a steady 4% global market share, benefiting from Chinese government subsidies that incentivize smartphone purchases. Huawei's operating system remains largely confined to China, where it continues to gain traction.
