Nvidia is reportedly in discussions to acquire Lepton AI, a company specializing in renting out servers powered by Nvidia’s AI chips. According to The Information, the deal is expected to be valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, though specific terms have not been disclosed.
Lepton AI, founded two years ago, secured an $11 million seed funding round in May 2023 from CRV and Fusion Fund. The server rental space has been attracting significant investment, with Together AI—another key player—raising over $500 million in venture capital despite being only a year older than Lepton.
This potential acquisition aligns with Nvidia’s growing interest in AI infrastructure. Just last week, reports emerged that Nvidia had also acquired Gretel, a synthetic data startup.
TechCrunch has reached out to Nvidia for further details.
