Motorola is gearing up to launch the Moto G56, the successor to last year’s Moto G55, which debuted in August 2024. Following earlier price leaks in March, a new official-looking render and the complete specification list of the Moto G56 have now surfaced, giving a detailed preview of what to expect.
Display and Design The Moto G56 features a 6.72-inch LCD display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,000 nits. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i, offering enhanced durability. The phone retains a sleek profile, measuring 165.75 x 76.26 x 8.35 mm and weighing around 200 grams.
Performance and Storage Under the hood, the Moto G56 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7060 chipset, paired with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM and storage options of 128GB or 256GB. The device also supports microSD card expansion, providing flexibility for users needing more space.
Camera System On the back, the Moto G56 sports a dual-camera setup with a 50MP main sensor (Sony Lytia LYT-600, f/1.8 aperture) and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens (f/2.2 aperture). For selfies and video calls, the phone offers a significantly upgraded 32MP front-facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
Battery and Charging The Moto G56 houses a 5,200mAh battery, a modest upgrade over the G55's 5,000mAh unit. It supports 33W wired charging, ensuring relatively quick top-ups despite the larger battery.
Durability and Software Motorola has equipped the Moto G56 with IP68 and IP69 ratings for water and dust resistance, along with MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification for added durability. The phone will ship with Android 15 out of the box.
In terms of software support, the 4GB RAM version will receive one major Android update and three years of bi-monthly security patches. The 8GB model gets two major Android OS updates and four years of bi-monthly security updates.
Color Options The Moto G56 will be available in four Pantone-certified color variants: Pantone Black Oyster, Pantone Gray Mist, Pantone Dazzling Blue, and Pantone Dill.
G56 vs. G55: What’s New? Compared to the Moto G55, the G56 offers a larger display, a higher-resolution 32MP selfie camera (up from 16MP), and a slightly larger battery (5,200mAh vs. 5,000mAh). These upgrades make the G56 a more appealing option for users seeking better multimedia and battery performance in the mid-range segment.
