Kyle Vogt, the former CEO and co-founder of Cruise, has secured another $150 million for his new robotics company, The Bot Company. According to Reuters, the funding round was led by Greenoaks, though Vogt has not commented on the matter.
Vogt started The Bot Company alongside Paril Jain, a former AI tech leader at Tesla, and Luke Holoubek, a former Cruise software engineer. The startup, which launched in May, is developing a household robot. It initially raised $150 million from notable investors, including former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, Pioneer founder Daniel Gross, Spark Capital’s Nabeel Hyatt, and Stripe co-founders Patrick and John Collison.
This new venture comes just months after Vogt stepped down as CEO of Cruise. He resigned following an incident on October 2, where a Cruise self-driving car dragged a pedestrian 20 feet after they had been hit by a human-driven vehicle.
